A co-worker talked a couple of us to join him on Lake Sixteen on Joslyn Rd. He had a pass and we knew we had to get permits to park, but two of us went up to Bark park and couldn't find anyone to get the daily permits. Bass Pro didn't sell the daily. (Out of County yearly is $46). So we get tickets and I called and the court, and the lady said it was $120. :yikes: :yikes: Is that right? Ouch!!! Any suggestions?

So we picked up a few small pan fish, and were 2-4 on the tipups. 24.5" and a 28" pike. Don't even start calculating the price per pound, etc. all ready did that. :bash:

This instance has happened to me on more than one occasion,, years ago.
If the situation arises where I KNOW I need a permit and no one is available to sell me one,,, I ALWAYS put a note on my windshield, explaining the situation and put the amount of the daily pass,, inside the gas tank lid,, or inside the driverside mirror "housing". I explain in the note that the money is there also,, so if they have a problem, they can leave a daily and take the cash. I've never had a problem when I did that. I've also never parked at the place you mentioned so I have no idea what they'll do to ya.

Can't you just pay the daily fee and be done with it? Was there a drop box that you should have used? If they don't supply a box they can't expect you to wait by your car to pay the daily fee.

I would call the county park admin, explain the situation and do your best to just pay the daily.

I don't understand why you're calling the court...did the police issue a ticket or the park service? I'm not aware of the police being able to ticket people for illegal parking in a county park.

I've heard rumors of purchasing an annual, will this help if I go in to talk to them about it? Any other options?

Ya really don't have anything to lose,,, I'd say " hey listen, I know I needed a permit, I wasn't intentionally trying to break the law, no one was there to get a permit". You might even have to go to court and ask for some type of hearing,, maybe the judge would consider taking it "under advisement". I've done that with several traffic tickets. Ya kinda feel like a "sap" goin' in there and "begging" for a break, but it works more times than not.

If it's anything like the state recreation area's the ticket is only $4.00. The cost of the daily permit. There are drop tubes you can drop your money and ticket in over at Grahm lake..........Wait, Lake Sixteen is an Oakland County park. You should be able to call Oakland County Parks and Rec and they should be able to direct you to where and how much you have to pay. I'm willing to bet the ticket is only the cost of a daily permit. (hopefully). I believe their office is off Brown road and silver bell.

Good luck.
