View Full Version : Kent Lk Depth Map Needed
Does anyone know where I could find a map that shows the different depths of Kent Lk. I will be heading to Gander Mtn tonight or tomorrow to see if they have anything but I was hoping there might be something I could find on the internet and save some money. If anyone knows a site or has a map they could put on this site I would really appreciate the help.
Thanks.

This is from of the Huron-Clinton Metropark website.
FISHING
Summer catches include bass (large and smallmouth), walleye, northern pike, bluegills, perch and crappies. Winter catches include pike, bluegills and crappies. Shorefishing sites near parking; several handicap-accessible fishing piers on Kent Lake, located near the West Boat Launch. Michigan Fishing or Sportsperson's license required. Water depth maps are available at Boat Rental or Park Office. No fishing on Kingfisher Lagoon or at posted areas of Wildwing Lake.
Here is their phone number to call and make sure they have them

www.sportsmanconnection.com Gander Mount. has them
Thanks guys. Anyone been doing any good out there for walleye or crappie lately. I picked up one legal eye on Sunday and caught one undersized one yesterday. Was hoping someone is having a little more action out there. Was looking to try a different spot but wasn't sure where.

The site listed by crowmaster is pretty good because not only is it free downloads, but it also gives you an indication of the type of bottom. However they are a little old as most of the surveys were done in the late forties and fifties.

If you find a map try some of the bends in the river channel that runs thru the lake. I've heard of good success if you can find the river channel. Good luck.

The Michigan DNR has now posted contour maps for many of our inland lakes.

I have fished Kent lake for ove 30 years and have several maps.
The one the park provides is pretty good and also shows Wild Wing Lake next to west boat launch. This little lake is probably the most consistent for
Pike, Gills and crappies than Kent is for icefishing.
The ice fishing success has really declined in the last few years.
Seen the fewest people ice fishing last year than I ever have.
On a positive note the crappies were real good in the spring and fall this year for the first time in awhile. Also the nice fat gills were real good too.
The river channel out by the freeway or near Turtlehead is the most consistent for all fish in the lake IMO. Seams closer to just jump on at turtlehead for either. The river channel is also the place you must use extreme caution due to ice thickness variations.
The lowereing of the lake 3 feet each fall makes it one of the hardest
lakes to icefish that I know of.
I like the idea of no snowmobiles or 4 wheelers on the lake
and still love to fish it for this reason.
Good fishing to all
and be safe.
Tried the deep hole yesterday. Got out there about 3:00, stayed until 9:00. Caught small perch and a couple crappie up until dark. Then only one large rockbass in the three hours after dark. Few others out there after dark and not one person had a hit. Couple guys where just getting out there when I was leaving so I am not sure how they did.

Was out at Kent lake last night also. Caught endless amout of small perch
near shore by where small docks are in summer. Moved out to 32 ft and only caught 3 14" eyes at dark. Nothing after dark for next 2 hrs..
Moved 3 times. Will hit the river channel next.
Water is clear in the main lake.
Seen 2 guys still out at that wild wing lake by nature center with light around 8:30 pm as I was leaving. Hmmmm
