Just got my new Outback set up on Sunday. I was on cloud-9 all day. This thing is awesome!! I never knew what I was missing and how much more fun a new bow is to shoot than my old relic. My 'relic' being a dusty but very trusty 1983 Browning Deluxe Nomad XL (maple limbs and riser, 60 lb, 50% and ssslllloooowww- you get the picture). I killed a lot of deer every year with that old bow but it was time for a change - and what a change it is. Like going from a '83 Chevette to a '05 Corvette...
The guys up at Brown's in Goodrich are all fantastic and really took the time to get me going - I'd recommend them to anyone looking at a new bow, Mathews or otherwise. I'm set up with Easton Axis carbons (400) (definelty new-age for me coming off of feather fletched 2216's). I also went from an old Keller sight to a Vital Bow Gear pendulum, although, this bow is so much faster I'm not really sure if I need a pendulum now (any comments?). The only thing I transfered from my Browning was my NAP micro rest 3000 and my Quickee Quiver.
Anyone have recommendations on broadheads with these tiny carbon arrows and fast bows? I successfully used Satelite Titan 100's and Steel Force 100's for years. I like the cut-on-impact heads like these. Some of the Muzzy style heads are of interest but I'm concerned with flight. The Titan's would break occasionally after shooting deer. The blade is too thin in my opinion near the window but they kill every time.
