Checked it the other day and there was a good 6". Didn't see anyone out, but did see some fresh holes. If I can get a couple hrs to myself, I'll wet a line and let you know. Plenty of ice, get out there!

Drove by at noon today. The lake is being used ; two shanties near the island, two at the far East end, couple of guys in front of Roses. The ice boater looked like he was having the most fun though:lol: .
The open water in front of the school / fire barns is no longer present like it was on the 16th.
Maybe I'll be able to venture out for some specks during the "heat wave" predicted for tomorrow ( 30 degrees!)

There had to have been 5 or 6 shanties out in front of the park and Roses today at around 3:30. Didn't see anyone in the deep hole or on the NW corner though.

Got out there for the first time this afternoon. Two small perch is all I managed to catch. Not a whole lot of action going on out there...

I was out there for a couple hours this afternoon and got 8 halfway decent perch (around 7-8") and missed a bunch more. Had about 7" of good ice for the most part, but it still looks a little shady by the middle school where it was open a few days ago. I did have to move quite a bit for the few fish that I got. I might try to go out tonight and get a report on the specks. Depends on how cold I feel like getting! ;)
Take care...Sid

I went out for a couple hours yesterday and didn't do to well. I didn't move that much and I stayed right in front of Roses. I managed about 5 fish and I saw a few people doing well. Im thinking about going out tonight for specs considering no school tommorow :) I will be sure to report.

Hey, I am planning a trip back to GR to do some ice fishing on Reeds. Has anybody tested the ice as of 1/21? Is it 3-5 " most of the lake?
Are the perch hitting on mouses & meal worms? Any pike on shinner minows?
I heard you got lots of snow. What is there 5-6" on the top of the ice?

The pike and most of the perch came with a #2 Swedish Pimple tipped with a waxie. I've got to tell ya, that's a pimple I don't mind having!!

Nice catch Big Sid. I would have been out there but we headed up north to the family cabin. Saw a ton of guys out there around 4 pm when we went by coming home. The way this up coming week looks I may finally get out there on Saturday. Although some of my students challenged me and another teacher to a fishing contest on Big Lake in Allegan county.

Saw alot of guys out on Reeds tonight in front of Rosies, wondering how you guys did? I don't have class tomarrow so I'm thinking about heading out there. Also wondering how much ice is out there and what you guys are catching them on? Thanks!!

Lots of ice, probably at least 10" by now. Use waxies, minnows, or any other bait. They don't seem too picky right now.

Well I got permission! ;) I'll be there tonight around 5:15 or so. I'll be in a blaze orange coat, camo overalls, fish trap scout and a lantern. I plan on fishing untill 6:30 or 7:00. Have to be home for dinner or else :chillin: I'll be to the north of Roses, over by the marshy area of the lake, in about 12 feet of water.

I was going to head out tonight, but totally forgot that I left my auger at home in Mason. Does anyone know where I can get a cheap auger? Remember I am a poor college kid, I checked out gander and they were sold out of their cheaper models. Let me know how you guys do tonight. Hopefully I will be ready to get out tomarrow. Thanks

Well I should be out at Reeds around 3 pm on Saturday. I think we will stick close to Rose's/boat launch since we will have a few 4 & 5 year olds with us and it's always good to be able to take off quickly if the young ones start a mutiny. We will mostly be targeting northerns with tip-ups, but the kids may want to try for panfish if they get too bored. Any suggestions on how far out/ how deep I should go in that general area? Even small gills would be fine. They will just want action. Thanks. I'll post a report on Sunday.

I'm planning on taking my 5 & 8 yo out too sometime(s) this weekend. We may move over closer to the Middle School where they can ride the sled down the hill too. You don't have to go too far out, at all, for pike or perch.
Good Luck and HAVE FUN :)

You can get into them not even 50 feet out in about 8-12 FOW. Like Cherokee said, good luck and have fun! Oh, and sharpen your filet knife! ;)
