Flint river

New to the Flushing area, just wonderin if anyone can tell me when they start catching eyes out of the river. Would like to go get some. Caught alot of nice smallies last fall, and would like to catch some eyes, plus get to learn the river a little more. Any one that can share some tips I would appreciate it. Feel free to pm me if you want.

They are there right now. Not the huge numbers that are in the lower river when the season is closed and the fish are running, but plenty of resident fish. some to be had between Mott Lake and Halloway Dam too.

I live on the river and cast for them whenever the ice isn't floating. I personally haven't caught a walleye since the end of summer in the Flint. For the past 3 years, the walleye did not arrive in my area until after the season closed. We just had another 15,000 gallons of sewage released upstream, so I'm staying away. The funny thing is that Flushing has a walleye festival and people continue to show up even though only a few fish are caught compared to the few hundred that enter. Hopefully our warm weather comes at the end of February and the fish move up sooner this year. I'll definitely post and let people know when they move past me. By that time you will have heard of the guys snagging them in Montrose. For me, knowing that "walleye express" is catching them in the Tib continues to pull me out to the river hoping they are here. It's like running downstairs looking for the Christmas tree and seeing "October" on the calendar.

Thanks guys, I stopped up in Montrose last year what a madhouse. Will not attempt that again. Got permission to fish on some private right off Seymour, was just hoping to get into a few, I'm looking for one of them big females to put on the wall. Seeing I don't have a boat to go after the big ones out in the big water, I thought maybe this would be my best chance. Keep me updated Robin thanks.

Robin, This Is Icehunter I Think I Ran Into You On The River Last Fall?? Can't Remember All The Names Of The Guy In The River That Day From This Site. Some Guys Were Bow Hunting For Carp And Others (like Myself) Were Fishing. But Had A Good Time. Don't Know If I Will Be Out There This Year Much, Just Bought A House In Clio, And Will Be Moving In The First Week In Febuary.
