Wolverine Lake on Glengary in Commerce or Walled Lake, I believe. Its on Glengary Rd. east of Benstein. The panfishing kinda sucks but flags seem to fly pretty good. Most guys fish by the party store or straight out from the launch, but a year or 2 back, I watched a guy pull a flat out MONSTER outta there,, he was had a shanty and was fishing to the right of the launch, as soon as he landed that pike, he packed up and left(8am) definitely goin' to show someone or to the taxidermist. This thing was every bit of 40". Theres also "rumors" of walleye in there, by the bridge, be careful of the ice under that bridge though,, its always shaky at best.

Not sure why people think this is closed to Icefishing, it's open year round. Here are the rules for Spring Mill Pond straight from the DNR.
Spring Mill Pond, (Island Lake Recreation Area) Research Area: No fishing March 15 - March 31. Catch and release fishing for trout - artificial lures only - April 1 through the Friday before the last Saturday in April; from the last Saturday in April through March 14, 5 fish limit, 8 inch minimum size, no more than 3 fish 15 inches or larger, artificial and natural baits may be used.
Now, as for the fishing, this pond gets hit very hard during the spring/summer and not many trout carry over yeat to year, but SOME survive and can be caught through the ice.

I appoologize if i posted wrong info. I can recall a sign stating no fishing in the winter though (not worded like this though) I also asked DNR when I was there in the summer and both C.O.'s told me that we couldn't icefish the pond.

huh, the way i read the regs in the booklet and online kinda lead me to believe that icefishing is alright on it. there are certain times of year its artificial only and all that, but open to fishing. maybe we should give island rec a call to find out. i've heard of people fishing it before, but yeah.

As an alternative, you can try Trout Lake. Its in the Island Lake Rec area and they also stock it with trout. The best way to get to it is to park in the beach parking lot and then take the trail south to the lake. Its a lot bigger than the pond but it gets very little pressure.

thats what i thoght as many times ive icefished it seems that if it was closed to icefishing i whould got kicked out. there is sighns there but you got to read them. you will find out that it is fine to icefish the trout are tough to catch in the winter ive only caught about 10 in 3 years there is bluegills&perch and bass also in there you need fish finder to have good luck there.
