View Full Version : Banned from Bassmasters
Anyone see the article in USA today this weekend? There was a lure being banned from the some major fishing tournaments (I think they mentioned Bassmaster) becuase the success rate was so high, but cant remember what lure it was...

There's been an ad that's ran occasionally in USA Today for the past several years for a "lure that's so realistic it's been banned from some fishing tournaments".
I suspect that their ad may lean more heavily towards promotion & hype than reality.

Was it made by Ronco or Popeil?
They allways put out some great products. ;)

That was part of the hype for the "walking worm" a couple of years ago....It may still be that one, but I think it is for a segmented minnowbait (can't remember the name) that is supposed to swim in a more realistic manner.
Anyone remember the Banjo Minnow, before the Walking Worm?
How about "The Sonic Lure" from about 40 years before that?
Any predictions about the next "banned from tournaments" lure....?

Yeah, they caught me with that segmented minnow and so far I'm the only thing it's caught! :p :bonk:

Hey now I just saw me a Fishing show with Babe in it using the banjo minnow catching big ole Pike up in the NW territories.
And Leon always slays the Eyes with the Walking worm in Detroit in the Spring. Shhhhhhhhh it's a secret.
I heard a saying.
"lures are not only designed to catch fish, they are also designed to catch Fisherman".
Over the years I have been caught thousands of dollars worth.
:p

That lure was the Kicktail. It looks just like a real swimming fish.

The banjo minnow works. I got it when i was in colorado. Caught 16 walleye in 4 hr period at the chatfield resevoir spillway. They are real picky when they are holed up like that.
I use it occasionally now. It does work but you need practice and not too stiff of a rod to make it wiggle right.
just tryin to fish
