Saturday,BigNoccursG and I got our passes signed and decided to try the bay. We were on the ice around sunrise and headed out ESE. The ice was at least 6 inches so we took a quad out. We were in about 5 fow between Whites beach and Palmer. There is a big pressure crack that limited our travel. We managed about 16 keepers (Perch) with alot of throwbacks including a 13" Walleye. It's good to see these little fish (our future), but they sure are pesky critters. The water was clear and overall it was a good day to be icefishing.

Was off palmer this morning, and not a thing! Was in 2' of water, and talked to a couple others in out to 4' of water, nothing either. Water was the most stirred up I've ever seen it. Must have been from run off or pine R. Couldn't even see 1' into water!! Talked to a couple that had fished off Great Lakes Marina and they said they only caught a couple dinks, but water was gin clear? This was only 1 mile or so down shore. Should have known something was up when at daylight, only about 6 shanties on ice off palmer on a sun. morn.

Oh yeah, ice was atleast 10 inches thick and the road to shore was froze solid. It gets pretty bad going down small hill to shoreline, but froze solid, and all I have is 2 wheel drive truck. Can drive all the way and park on ice at shore :)
