Went out linwood rd. with the Whale today without much luck. The whale picked up one legal fish + lost one.I stunk it up with nada.I did lose a heavy one+a couple more.Did talk to a guy at the launch tonite when we came in he had his limit(saw them).Fished st. out about 2 miles in 12' of water with ice 6".Also saw an argo go threw the ice after dark.Nothing we could do to help him out.

were there many machines out there besides the argo? Too soon for me but maybe next week I'll get my sled out if there is snow. Temps should make plenty of ice by then.

hoffie, was the water dirty due to the massive runoff from the sag. river or hadn't it reached that area of the bay yet.

Hoffie, I was up at the ramp watching the 3 of you come in. I saw you about a mile out and to the north just a bit. Saw one leader stop for a long time and 2 others hold back. Then one set of lights started south about that time I left. I saw many people heading in with no trouble to the south of you. You going to Hubbard Lake? I will bring a hammer and a 16 nail for the Whale to use while he is driving on the ice. lolol

So what happened out there. How deep was the water and did he get out? Skeeter

Bring a BIG hammer there , Skeeter !!! :yikes:  I felt real bad for the Argo dude, too. Said he had some friends coming with true quads, rope, chains etc. Hoffies three-wheeler and my two-wheel drive quad were not up to task such as that he needed. Guessing he was in 5'-6' of water. Really not sure if he broke through, or found an open pocket. Dman glad a man waved us off though, we were coming in in the dark, headlights only, and he waved us down from proceeding. sure didn't see anything like that going out.

Jeremy - water was fine, 11.5' and bottom was spotty weeds. Clear to see through. Surprised us also that the run off had not affected it there. Yet. ???

Plenty of quads running around. Ice was a solid 7" of clear with a couple hazy on top. Solid.

Of course too, dang chilly ride in with the wind blasting in our faces !!!:xzicon_sm

Did it go right under then? Just before I left I though I could still see his headlights.

No, the Argo never went under. In fact he was driving around in a semi-circle, chewing the edges trying to get it to crawl out. I couldn't tell if he had tracks on or not though. His passenger was peering over the short side of the argo at the water, had a look on his face like, "Damn, I bet this water s is COLD. Hope I don't have to get wet" !!! Poor S.O.B., and I don't mean "Sweet Old Boy" ! :yikes:
