View Full Version : 2005 Jamboree
I was asked to post this info about the 2005 Jamboree. We will have this info on our website in a couple of days as well.
We are also in need of volunteers on Friday morning for the set up and also on Sunday afternoon for the tear down. It would REALLY be appreciated. You can contact me and I will let you know whom you need to speak with.
Thanks, Chuck

Man, I hope I can make it this year. Looks like it may fall right after I am returning from an Idaho Sprong Bear hunt. I may even have a story or two to tell :-)
Dan
Seems like a long ways off but time goes fast ...:yikes:

Hi Chuck,
We should be there Thursday night so if you need help Friday morning sign me up.
Jeff
Sounds good Jeff. We'll see how things are going early Friday morning. Thanks for the offer. You plan on doing the church service on Sunday morning right?
Thanks for your help Jeff.

Yes sir we plan on doing the service Sunday as well as hopefully doing a concert again on Saturday night! (if that's ok?)

As long as you include some Buck Owens, and Conway Twitty-- :D
Yes Jeff - the concert was just talked about as well at our last Council meeting. We had a request from someone else to do something along the music lines and we declined on that request.(and it wasn't Conway Twitty or Buck Owens):p One of the reasons was because we were aware of what you do on Sat night ... Thanks for all you do to help make the Jamboree a success!
See'in is it was SO nice out today ... TTT

Your right Chuck. Time goes by fast and I really want to come this year. I guess I better start looking for plane tickets.

I can't hardly wait, I was wishing it was June already;)
Fly in to Grand Rapids Dan ... Gail will not be able to go this year. We can go up together.

Bluewood,
Let me guess,.....you're still listening to those good ol' boys on 8-track!?
Now that is what being traditional is all about!

What time does the campfire start on Saturday night? I missed the whole thing last year due to my son's baseball. We'll be there this year no matter what, even if he's got a game on Saturday...we'll just have to be little late. It's only about 3 hours from me.

There is no main campfire per say, many different people have campfires in the campground area and many just go from campfire to campfire and visit. :)

Last night I read the story written in TBM about Compton. It really is a good story and makes me want to come to the Jamboree that much more. Can't wait..

LOL-
that's right JIMMY C- you can't get more traditional than Conway Twitty or Buck Owens on 8 track...That is unless you throw in a little George Jones or Merle Haggard, with perhaps a wild shot of Elvis on the side.-(I bet ol' Jeff could do a pretty good Elvis !!--he is annoited, after all )

BOY, you fellers must be OLD!!! :yikes: I read about 8 tracks in my high school history class but I've never actually seen one. Ok, I lied. I used to own a few 8 tracks myself. :o You guys do seem to have good taste in music though. :D

Hey Bluewood,

I won't be camping there since my cabin is only 45 minutes away. At least this year I know quite a few more people this year that are more than likely camping.

I just found out I'll be able to make it this year.
Last year, I was in the Grayling area but didn't make it to the shoot because I was actually catching some trout for once:)
Good to hear you guys can make it. When you stop by the booth, introduce yourselves.
I have to admit, mparks - that would be a tough call but I hope the trout aren't biting on Saturday during the last weekend of June this year. Sounds like Elvis might be there this year to - can't miss that.
:yeahthat:  ;)
Gutshot - If you've got hot water at your cabin, I bet you could sell showers to some of the campers.

Nope, no hot water. What booth will you be at Ibow? The MTB booth? I'll be the fella there with the big smile on my face, new Black Widow PMA II in hand, gorgeous red headed wife carrying a Martin Dream Catcher, and a 12 year old son carrying his Black Rhino longbow that he just got today for his birthday. I know a guy that goes by the handle Chessbum that'll be there. I shot with him this winter in a league. Maybe I'll horn in on his campfire, or yours...it doesn't really matter to me as long as there's fire and good people surrounding it.
Yes - I will be at the "Hog tie em' and get em' to join MTB" booth. ;) Nice your gorgeous red head can come with you as well as your son. I wish my gorgeous brunette could be there (I think she is a brunette - she covers it with stuff because a lot of it is GRAY) but those twins should be arriving the week before the Jamboree and I don't think she wants to miss out. :)
That is cool that you guys got your son a new bow for his birthday and a nice one at that! Tell him Happy Birthday!:bouncy: :woohoo1: I hope you, your wife and son have a lot of great memories that involve that new bow you gave your son.
Yup, Chess is a great guy and does a lot of great things for our troops and besides being a member of MTB he is also a very dedicated MLA member.
I have no idea what fire I will be poking in but you'll be welcome where ever there is heat. ;)
Glad to hear you are coming.

Hey Chuck I was reading Gutshots post and wonderd has the MTB ever thought about doing a community camp fire or a community pot luck type of thing at the Jamboree? That sounds like a blast to me!

I think a MTB community campfire would be just the ticket. Many of us might not be staying the night, but would like to spend at least a little time shootin' the bull. It would have to be a little bigger fire than the norm I'm assuming though. What do you think?
Jeff - Good idea re a potluck and so on but if we were going to do it in June, it is something that probably should have gotten in the next magazine which just went to the printer this past Monday. Good idea to keep in mind for next year.
Re a fire ... whoever builds the biggest fire generally gets the biggest crowd. :D

Okay then Ibow...MTB better have the biggest fire! Call it a recruitment effort.

It is like a community with several little fires, and yeah, like Chuck said, by the end of the night, there's usually still one pretty good sized log still burning, and everyone's always welcome to come & join, swap a few tales.
Years back, there were complaints to the council, that the latest burning fire, got a little too noisey... Council told the folks that were complaining that we'd look into it...(didn't tell em it was our fire--- ) We try to make less noise these days.

I can't wait! Maybe we should all wear name tags with our handles on them...I don't think I know too many of your real names. Instead of asking, "What's your sign?" on the introduction, we'll probably be saying, "What's your handle?"
I do have one question. The last time I attended was about 9 years ago, sad to say. There were a few vendors there, not a lot, but a few. Has it grown in size much at all from all those years ago?

04-02-2005, 05:53 AM
There's still not a whole lot of vendors but there are enough to supply all traditional archery needs. Usually 5 or 6 bowyers, a few supply vendors, used bow vendors, etc... :)
