I was looking into joining the WMWC, and just looking for opinions.....is anyone else a member? What's the membership base - all pros? Or does it range from "walleye challenged" (like myself) to walleye experts and everything in between?

Nice club, I'm not a member, but know a few of them, and they are all great guys. The club has tournaments that give you the opportunity to fish along with others to learn where and how to catch eyes all around the state. They also have reports, guest speakers, and a chance to meet guys locally who fish. I picked up my boat from a WMWC member and I know a few guys who come around here from there as well. For $15 a year, I should join too.

I've been a member for a couple of years. There are a few pros in the group but alot of guys just enjoying fishing. With my partner we've fished about 1/2 the tournamanets the last couple of years. It's been enjoyable and everyone that we have met has been helpful. I know there are a couple of other club members who frequent the site, so maybe they will add their thoughts.
The monthly meetings have a guest speaker and they will normally line up pros or someone with intimate knowledge of an area that the club will fish. They are informative and it's nice to get out of the house to attend the meetings.
I don't think the tournament dates are set in stone yet for '05, but the locations are: Detroit River, St. Clair River, Hardy Pond, Lake Erie, Saginaw Bay (AuGres), Lake Macatawa and Muskegon Lake.

The club dues are now $25.00/year. For that you get into an okay website, a monthly news letter along with the monthly meetings to hear guests and compare notes with other members. This lets you fish the tourneys for free and over-all learn some new things about walleye fishing. Been a member going on three years, about 350 total members and an average of 40 - 50 boats per tourney. To win it all only means you gain the respect of the others. We do get some spots into the Cabela's national tourney as well so there is competition within.
I would guess that 15% of the tournament guys are from various other clubs (MWT, PWT, Gander mountain series or guide professionally) most are in it for the simple enjoyment of belonging to a club with shared interest's.
We have an annual swap meet, so you can get gear at cheap prices and we do get some discounts through various tackle stores, dealers and services too.
