wondering if anyone has been out on heron lake in the last couple of days ??? would like to hear if the ice is solid enough to get out on it?? havn't had a chance to make there my self. heard there is 4"-5"s of ice around the fenton area but no reports on the holly area. was thinking of making it out there on sat. or sun. if conditions were good. any info would be appreciated. icehunter :fish:
It should be safe this weekend. It's warming up right now, so I don't know. But, I was on a lake on Tripp Road and it was safe. About 4" and on another lake on Grange Hall there was 4". This was last weekend, though. I don't know exactly where Holly Recreation Park is, though. Is it off of Grange Hall?

Are the gills still pretty small on Heron? 15 years ago, we could catch 100+ a day and still not take home anything. Saw some various other species though that were respectable.

Was Out Last Year And Would Have To Fish For A Couple Of Hours To Get Enough To Take Home. But Seen Some Nice Pike Taken And A Few Eyes That Were Legal Size. The Specks Were About 8-9" At Most And The Gills Ran Around The Same Size, But You Had To Pick Them Out Of A Bunch Of Small Ones. In The Summer We Would Catch A Mess Of Redears But Not Real Big Either. The Fish Are Not Big, But You Could Still Catch Fish. Its A Lot More Fun Catching Something, Instead Of Sitting For Hours Not Catching A Thing. Well Thanks For The Ice Report And You Venture Out You Might Run In To Me. I Have The Two Tone Suburban(brown & Black) Tight Lines To All Icehunter
