Van Auken Sunday

My Son and I fished the channel of Van Auken Sunday from 12:30 to 3:30. We kept 6 Gills and 1 Crappie. Nothing huge but ok. Many guys fishing Sunday in the Channel.

Did anyone else fish around the Hartford area this weekend?

I hit Lake-Of-The-Woods Thursday for 3:00pm till 10:00pm. Had to sort through a lot of dinks to get a dozen eaters. After the sun went down the bite was done end up with a small Crappie after that. I'm headed back out after work to day.

hey thanks for the updates,headed out to lake of the woods tommrow morn,did'nt do to good last year after dark for crappies and sounds like its the same this year.marked a ton of fish on the zercom but they never went:bash: so guess i'll do the morning thing.have'nt heard of any other hot lakes yet,will post with any news,will stop at rush and check the ice.fish-on

I've been fish Van Auken just about everyday since we got ice, and it doesn't hurt that V.A. is in my back yard. My best luck has been between 8:00 to 10:30 although the bite lasted until 11:30 today. Use minnows for the specks about 5ft down on a bobber. small green jig, and NO splitshot. Had five on the ice before I could get the second pole baited. I'm a little slow when it comes to getting those wiggley little shiners to hold still long enough to run a hook through their lips. If ya make it in the morning just look for a guy sitting on a sled box with two rodholders, I'm also real lazy.:)

Just a bit of update on Van Auken, I fished the farm channel now 4 times, took alimit of gills each time. 1st was between 10 and 12:30, 2nd between 2 and 5pm and the others between 11 and 1. I checked out the north channel but the farm channel is the place to be. best was spikes with crinkle black, or spikes and white with a red eye. mid way down the channel was best...
