Went up to my cabin in the thumb suday to check my furnace out and drain my water heater. Took a couple of perch poles with 4# test and tried our luck. In 3 hours we landed 6 lakers from 3-8lbs and lost or broke off 8 more :yikes: It was a riot on the light tackle  We caught them on very small swedish pimples with a perch minnow hooked lightly through the back. They were slamming them :one_eye: Good fishin!

I had to work but my bud went for a return trip to the thumb. They did'nt bite as fast, but he caught his limit in 6 hrs. He also talked to a guy who caught a 28" walleye! The guy next to him landed 6 big lakers ;) Good fishin!

Big Shooter.

I'd be the last one to put a hole in your fishing ballon, but I believe Lake Trout season has been closed since September 30th on every Great Lake excpt Lake Superior. I'd hate to see you get fined. :yikes: :chillin:

Good pic Jeramy if someone would check the regs he would know its open  But then again I did'nt give my exact location. My reaction was the same about it being closed, but in the location we fished , it's open  Good fishin!

Great picture. I know the place well but have never fished there through the ice. I usually go into the marinas but have not dome well there the past few years. The suckers are heavy in there during the spring.

Wouldn't mind catching a few lakers, don't they have to be 24" on the open all year rivers? They get any burbot through the ice over there Jeremy? I've caught them in the spring perch fishing, but thought to try twards last ice at night this year?

yeah it is, but i have some bad news. fished today, alot of people, even less fish. Most of the lake trout have gone out deeper and there isn't anything else in there right now. plus the warm up will make the water like mud and could sig. weaken the ice.

Thanks for the report Jeremy, Thats a bumber about them slowing down. On sunday some guy took fish he did'nt want to walsh's bait shop and gave them to mike. In the 5 mins I was in there he told everyone who came in that we were slamming the lakers, and the people started showing up in mass. You can't blame a guy for trying to sell bait when the perch fishing has been bad at the very least. hopefully the perch start showing up soon because the laker's were a fluke. Good fishin!

LMAO! I know the person who gave mike those fish, he said, our buddy, that he told mike after people came in and seen the fish that he would see some good bis. after seeing those fish. yeah, i think the only reason there isn't a single perch in there right now is because of all the lakers and once they are gone there should be some again.

Ralph, i lost a burbot on monday though the ice, and caught one just before ice up, so there are a couple around and yes 24 inches in the river is ok.
