Just curious to know if the flyrods have been put away for those of you who live on top of the world or if there are still open rivers full of hungry steelhead striking at every passing fly! I do not wish to have specific rivers named this is just a general question. Our rivers here in the Baldwin area vary from open to three to four feet of shelf ice with floating ice chunks on colder days. Also how much snow do you have to wade through to get to the streams this time of year? Again- SEASONS GREETINGS amd thanks for the info! <><<<<<<<< <><<<<<<<<

I am in the houghton area and have looked around the last few days and only seen one river that could be fished. It looks like everything is locked up until spring. That sucks since I got a new fly rod for christmas.

Yesterday we awoke to 12 below zero here in Ruby Creek. The lower end of the P.M. has ice locked in clear to Scotttsville. I"m not sure about upstream from there-probably ice-covered as well. The Big South is also locked in as well. However, today begins a warming trend with temps in the mid-thirties so we'll see what happens. Guess its time to hang out at the ramps to watch the downstaters vehicles float away when they hit the ice on the ramps! Great cure for cabin fever!!! Tight lines!! <><<<<<< <><<<<<<<

Welcome to the slowest moving forum in fishing! We don't talk much, 'cause were fishing! In the marquette area, there is some free flowing steelhead water. Not many steelhead though.... I have only fished a few days in the last month or so. There are a few Coho still to be had, I hooked a couple last week. It is so cold right now, I wouldn't bother.. Head for the hardwater.

Just below the dam, the Bear River is starting to break up due to the unusual temps. There are some fish in the river but I haven't attempted to get anything foing what with icefishing and all. How about the Manistique?
