I took my scuba diving exam their 27 years ago. never fished it but it had small barely improved dnr access site. no motors allowed. the lake went to 65 feet deep about 20 yrds out. out and had a 4 ft deep silt bottom! lalke was about 2 miles by 1/2 miles. sorry if my report is 27 years old!

Koby, next time you get a chance to go out there. let us know, i would love to get out there and try my luck on davison. hear that there are some nice gills in there. have you ever caught any walleye in there, or pike?

that lake is good for burning calories, or buy a power auger :)
I always have to make the one obligatory trip out there each year.

ive fished it quite a bit...you can tell from scottyhoovers tone that its not easy and thats true, but its not heavily fished

havent caught any pike, walleye or gills...just crappie and perch

i took my camera out there one year to see what it looked like and sce-to-aux's 27 year old report still holds....the bottom is muck and the visiblity is very poor

the perch there feed off the bottom on sow bugs, and the crappie, believe it or not feed on plankton and sow bugs...thats why its so tough

if you go, you have to use GID jigs or beads with a camera flasher or spotlight to charge em up....tip with a wiggler or minnow

in early Jan last year i caught perch off the first drop just about anywhere in the South end of the lake, 18-22 FOW....crappies were caught in the same area 40-45 FOW in Mid February...all were caught by letting the rig go to the bottom then 2-3 cranks up and letting it sit still

hope that helps

i can be more specific if you PM me

Fished Davidson lake last summer and did fairly decent on the bass. We fished the south end around all the trees laying in the water. My buddy caught a nice 29" pike on the south east side of the lake.....You know, right by the patch of lilly pads.......wonder if there still there :dizzy:

Haven't fished it as hard water yet. We've talked about trying it out for the past 3 or 4 years.

I would have to think that you might catch some crappie off the tips of the trees laying submerged in the water?........wouldn't you

Does the lake hold a good perch population????

Good Luck and be safe!!

The lake is fished hard in the summer considering the size. I live few miles from it and have taken the kids out there quite a bit. There are always pike spearing shanties on the North end in the winter. Never tried it. We have caught a lot of small gils in the winter but little else. Summer time has produced a fair amount of Bass. We do not keep any of the bass but many of the others I have observed do. It has always be said the there were lake trout deep in the lake but I have never had that verified.

well at least it started off good

at 10 am, set up straight across from the launch in 18 FOW, caught 3 perch in the first 10 minutes...my buddy shows up just after ive caught my 3rd...and he catches one 5 minutes later

the sun came out and that was the ballgame...stayed till 5 without another fish and very few light bites

the fish were there periodically on the vex, but would not bite once the sun came out

two other guys showed up out there about 2pm...dont know if they did any good

ice is about 5", with 3" white ice on top of about 2" solid clear....looked a little scary at first but its fine

I gave it a shot yesterday afternoon. (I was in the blue shanty). Wife and kids were gone for the afternoon. What's a man to do?? Answer: Go Fishing.

Didn't do much of anything except listen to the football game and have a couple wobbly-pops.

Moved three times and caught notta. The best I can say is I lost two minnows (they probably got bored and left). Not even a hit on waxies. Still a pretty nice day to be out.

I drove by Big fish lake before hand and there wasn't a sole in sight. Ice conditions about the same as davison.

Koby, Any size to those perch you caught?? I could hear you guys in the shanty "There he is, get em". :fish:

YS

3 of them were 8" one was 7

the bulk of the perch youll catch in there are all 8"ers, like they came out of a fish copier....with the occasional 10-11" thrown in

we caught them on Glow in the Dark/Chartruse Halis with a red hook, tipped with 3 spikes

had the sun not come out, they would have bit all day...thats happened to me a few times on that lake where they just shut down when it gets bright

hope you get into em next time...if you hit it again, think green/chartruse/Glow in the Dark jigs
