A friend and I launched at Clinton River mouth Saturday (11-25)in search of some Pike action. Our usual spots on the flats south of the river mouth were unfishable due to dredging activity in the river, visibility was about 4", and you would have to bounce a bait off thier noses for a hit. We ran across to the middle channel (St. Clair River)and fished the miles of stickups along the Harsens/Dickinson Is. shores. In two hours we caught & Released 11 Pike. The largest was 9-5 and the average was 5-6.
I still won't winterize the boat untill the water is too hard! In my expierence this cold water time of year can produce some of the best Piking of the year, but dress warm and wear those P.F.D.'s!

Oh yeah, I'm nuts..... but there's something to be said about having 800+ square miles of prime fishing lake all to yourself....

KINGFISHER,
So how did your trip go? We were out Sunday and found the toothy critters holding tight to a steep drop at 10-12' over 25' of water. I don't have the patience to wait for a sink tip line to get that deep, but we had a good time catching them on large spinner baits and magnum Rapalas. We didn't find any particularly large fish (the largest being just over 11#) but we sure found plenty of cooperative ones!
