I personally match my line to the rods and lure types I'm using. Kinda of a vague question, are you fishing spoons or teardrops, shallow water or deep, etc. If you are using a heavy lure and stiffer rods go with a heavy line and don"t worry about limpness. If you are using small lures or tear drops go with a limp line and a softer rod. When everything is in synic you will get better lure action and your rod will perform better fishing and fighting fish.
Sorry for being so vauge.
Specificly, what brands of 2,3 or 4 pound line perform well
when using a medium light rod with medium size jig example.. med size genz worm or perch size bobber fry. or small rap or pimple

if they are anything like gills smaller the better. i like to start my year with 3-4 lb for gills and go down down down use the thick stuff while they're dumb. by late season you'll want somethin in an angel hair to fool em in high pressure areas

I personally like the stren 2lb in the golden yellow for bluegills and some perch fishing. the line is very limp and managable for smaller lures, the downside is to streachy for deep water. Berkley makes some lines that are for ice fishing and you cannot go wrong with them.Berkley cold weather, micro ice. When fishing small light lures go with a small diameter limp line, when using larger lures or spoons use a little stiffer line and don''t worry about the diameter as much.
