I've heard that some guys use them on LSC for perch. I bought a few at Gander Mountain also, 2 days ago. I have never used them but will give them a shot this year.

yes, i have tried em, and yes, i have caught fish with em..... still a work in progress though. i didn't really slay em with em. but they have promise..... btw, i used a jensen egg on the hook. I also used it for some tricky underwater salvage operations that were needed (don't ask, LOL)

I was useing them at higgins for perch with good success before I ever tried them for smelt. I would have to think that they would get perch most any where.

I bought a couple myself recently. Looks like they have promise.

Tried them last year every which way and only had small fish to show. Though I would rather fish a tube than anything else.

Tubejig... do you fish them during hardwater season? IF so how? I thought I heard something about fishing them upside down on the hook, with the tentacles to the top of your hook... any truth to that?

Either way will work, however, I have had better success with them up. When u hear guys are doing better with wigglers, switch to a squid(tube)
Use a light lure, and jig slowly. I like to jig these near the bottom, when water is clear, stiring up the bottom, and a slow motion will sometimes trigger those pigs.

I've used them before and have gotten fish on them, never on a consistant basis, but I do fish them. I have only used them the last 2 seasons, so there is some room for improvement. Seems they like a gold chain with the red hooks better. I tip them with either a wiggler or 2 or a jensen egg.

Yep during hard water only, always moving that bait, they usually never take it dead. Once in awhile I will switch them up side down on a tear drop. I usually only tip them with spikes or a minnow head. I try to keep them around 1/2-3/4 inch in length and use 2lb test tops. They work very very well on gills too, MSU saw that on one occasion.

yeah, i shake my fist at those tubejigs! LOL. i experimented with em last year some and did well too. just another thing to add to the collection of things to have on the ice with me. hmmmm, maybe a hali jig with a dropper to a maggot to another dropper to a tubejig....... now ya got me thinking and thats dangerous! The testing will have to wait til next year unfortunately.

We use the halis on Simcoe Lots thats all my budy uses. We tie em up like a crappie rig, so the Hali is hanging below the tear drop, tipped with minnows often produces.
