What a beaut. Makes me want to head for the bay ha ha. hope he let her go but remember this, she was in her prime and not many good years left . I would not condem the guy if he kept her to mount. I would be more sorry if someone killed a 48". Kingfisher

I swore to myself that I would get out and fish the bay for 'skies this year.
Never did.
And shame on me: I can launch my boat and be fishing the bay in under 20 minutes.
Well..... glad to see somebody did O.K.!

Hello guys! Glad you enjoyed the story. For those interested, we did try to release the fish, but the fight, water depth and time tangled in the reeds proved too much. It broke my heart, as I am a staunch supporter of catch & release! There will those who always question the keeping of big fish. However, in some cases the fish will simply not survive. As long as we make our best effort, the premise of catch & release will continue. Good luck to all of you during the remaining 2000 season and into 2001!
