Which is preferred?

Both have the "curved" blade technology. Do they use the same blades? Due to a one time discount, I could get either 6" for about the same price. Any one out there compared the two?

I did talk to a guy buying a plain Mora and explained to him the difference between the old and new styles and said that there was a price difference but if he could afford it.... So he decided to go back and take one more look. Hope he chose well.

I have never tried the other brand but I can tell you that the lazer has been proven a winner time and time again. If they are about the same price I would have to say go with what is proven.

......I believe they do.

Do a "search" here on site, I remembe this being brought up last year.

The Eskimo was quite a bit cheaper than the Lazer.

The Eskimo is the "Barracuda" model. I found it on the web for $43 including shipping!! :dizzy: That's delivered to my door! no fighting holiday traffic.

But I'm still looking for someone that has seen and used the equip. I guess it comes down to two questions: Quality of product like thickness of metal and USE (how the handles positioned when your turning the auger)

Responded to your PM.

The Eskimo Barracuda DOES accept the exact same blades as a Lazer.

Have a 6" Barracuda, well built and quicker than my old Mora ever thought about being. Adjustable handle is easy to use and is solid when turning, has a nice blade guard. Never seen or used a lazer, never heard a bad thing about them either, but at $50 delivered I have no regrets. Nice to know the blades are interchangeable.

I have an earth quake auger for digging holes in the dirt. The nice thing is that power auger ice blades from eskimo fit right onto this head. Use the same power head in the summer and the winter. If you guys have this head and don't want to throw a few c notes into an ice auger this is the way to go.
