Looking at picking up a hand-help in 05' and am looking for feedback on what models/features make sense. Likely uses would be hunting, travelling (w/i cont. US), and geocaching. My first impression from what little I have looked into them is to go with the Megellan Platinum with the travel pack option. Thoughts and experiences are greatly appreciated!:help:

Chrisu,

here's a link to a site that has a lot of information on it. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, there are three separate comparison charts for the different types of GPS's. It makes it MUCH easier to compare features and functions.

I have the ETrex Legend...it works well for Geo-caching and other outdoors uses, including Ice fishing and marking hunting spots.

I have the Garmin eTrex Legend too! I also use it while hunting, fishing, traveling and geo-caching. Garmin also puts out a "How-to" video for each of the GPS units they make to help you understand how to use them.

For more opinions, click on "search" at the top of the screen and type in "GPS", there's been alot of threads started about this topic.

I experience is limited in terms of a variety of units (3 friends have different ones), but i certainly have not complaints with my Garmin etrex.

Magellan sporttrax map. I use mostly for geocaching. Woks great for me .I do wish the maping that came with it was a little more detailed . But You can get street leval map softwear or topo maps for it.
