Read in the paper this morning that the court of appeals said the Island Lake range can reopen thursday.
They said the Livingston County judge that issued the closed order over stepped his bounds by closing the range till the trial is over.
I don't know when & where this trial is being held but anybody that needs some recoil therapy can take advantage of it.
Maybe an M-S shooting saturday in support is in order after the 1st of the year ?

Island Lake Shooting Range Reopens
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources today reopened the Island Lake Shooting Range in Brighton, following a Michigan Court of Appeals reversal of a Livingston County Circuit Court injunction preventing the department from operating its shooting range.
The injunction had been in place since Nov. 18.
Island Lake Shooting Range offers rifle, pistol, skeet, trap and sporting clays. It is widely used by recreational shooters in southeast Michigan and local law enforcement agencies for training.
"We are pleased to once again have this facility available to the public," said DNR Director Rebecca Humphries. "Shooting ranges not only provide an important venue for firearm training and education, they also offer quality family recreational experiences."
For more information about the facility, visit
www.michigan.gov/dnr/hunting/shootingranges, or call the range office
at 248-437-2784.

I was there for the opener yesterday, and the first one to shoot on the range at that. The Detroit News was there and interviewed me and took some photos. I am not sure if it made the paper or not though. If it does, hopefully they don't twist what I said, which was basically it seems like the residents and the state would have worked this out long ago, when the range was first opening.
O.K. Someone name the day so I can set it aside....I don't want to miss it.

Looks like a bunch of guys here are talking about Saturday. The bunch I work with are probably going to show up there on Sunday afternoon! But today looks so nice I ought to play hooky this afternoon and go bust them up.

Check your calendars guys, if that looks like it will work post it here over the weekend.
Then monday I'll post one in the outings forum.
That's great news about it re-opening. What about around midday on a Sunday? Unfortunately, that's about the only day of the week that I'm sure I'd be able to get out there........but whatever floats for the majority, do it.

The article was printed Sunday and I was not quoted. I guess I was not a good sound byte.
