Glad to see the bouy site is working again.
I was looking at the chart and there is a heading titled "ice accretion" ( I had to look it up.....accretion is " an increase in natural growth or by external addition"
So what the hay is this little tidbit of info telling us??? How fast the ice is forming?? How thick?? Anybody know?
SS
ice accretion refers to the rate of the buildup of ice on particular structures like ships, planes, buldings etc...not the rate of lake surface ice formation, although i would speculate that if the ice accretion number on the bouy website is high, it cant be bad for ice formation on the lake!!!
BTW as of 12/14 @11 am....the temp is now down to 37.8
the countdown to first ice is on!

koby, I would imagine that temps in the marinas have to be about perfect and should start making ice if the winds are kind to us.
Perfect? I'm not buying that Ken, perfect is when I can still launch. I'll ice fish because it beats sitting holding down the Lay-Z-Boy, but untill I figure out how to keep a 150' long hole in the ice open for casting, I just won't be satisfied.;)

Paul, I would think that by now you would just give up on the idea of trolling in January. I did long ago and succummed(sp?) to the ice gods, it makes winter go by a little quicker if you don't fight it. :) I have a two man trap now and if you ever feel like getting off the couch let me know.
