I replyed to a thread earlier and thought I would pose this question : Does anyone use any type of oil/attractant during the ice season, and if so, what types and results have been found? I had a product that I used several years ago called "Shrimp Oil" that I used and had unknown success(decent I would say). Since the deterioration of the container and the mess it was making, I tossed it. Thinking that at worst the stuff would mask my human odors, I purchased Baitmate - Gamefish at Duhhams/Wal-Mart??? and have used that for a few years. (unknown success) Tight Lines....and early ice.

I quit using live bait a few years ago. Been using the Berkley naturals and power bait lines on JamminJigs or 1" tubes/craws and small jigging raps with some type of fish formula, Dr. Juice etc. type attractant. Seem to do as well or better than others out there and think my fish tend to be slightly larger. Gills, Crappie and Perch don't seem to mind at all that it's not real.

Occasionally I use tuna fish water or oil. Chum with it too.

"Anse Oil", Like the stuff they put in Jenson eggs, you can find it in the baking section of your favorite grocery store. I've also found it at Frank's in Linwood.

Mix with vasiline and put in a film bottle. A friend of mine is a catfisherman, and a scoal chewer. He swears that this mix covers the human and tobacco scent on his hands. If it were me I would leave the chew in the truck and not have my hands smelling like licorice, but he does catch fish :chillin:
