I might spend a few days up in Lewiston at my sister's between Christmas and New Year's. I'm hoping for some ice somewhere up there. Will anybody else be North of West Branch at that time of the year?

Mike there will for sure be ice in Ogemaw County by then which isn't all that far from Lewiston. There are a lot of good lakes around there. My cottage is on George Lake near Rose City. If your interested I can give you some directions to the area lakes.

What are you fishing for?

And frankly Houghton Lake would be a hoot too and not all that far from Lewiston.

But Lewiston has those Twin Lakes which would for sure be iced over by then.

I'm not exactly sure where I'm going yet, but I am planning on going up for a few days. I really don't care where I end up, just want to be on a frozen lake somewhere!

I'll be up at the cottage in Harrison, hoping to do some ice fishing or snowmobiling.

I'm hoping for some SAFE ice somewhere. Last year I put one leg through the ice around December 27th. I had the other leg on the shoreline of a little island across the canal from my sister's house. She's on a little private lake near Lewiston named Caulkins Lake. I've fished it before and never did much besides a couple of hammer-handle pike casting.

The twin lakes aren't very good for fishing from what I hear from friends that live on West Twin. Maybe I'll try the south end of Otsego Lake or come down to Houghton Lake if there is ice.

Wow...that's close Ed! I'll be at my parents house over x-mas on Upper Hamlin. They usually see some ice pretty early at their part of the lake, but I'll probably bring up the bow as well...just in case. Happy holidays!
