Does anyone remeber when we had good ice on the bigger lakes last year, namely LSC, and canals surrounding it. I am trying to plan the purchase of my new Shapell-DX4000 around it.

If I remember correctly, last year I was fishing on some canals near Fairhaven X-mas week but I'd have to double check my records to be sure.

I'd recommend that you not wait. get it while you can. Once the ice starts even on shallow inland lakes, everyones stock gets real short....you may not be able to find one if you wait too long.

Shane's suggestion to "Lay Away" would be an excellent idea to ensure you've got one when its needed!

Checked my journal and was on the ice December 14th last year. It's been a lot warmer this season than last. It'll be at least a couple more weeks before we get out on Bay de Noc this year. At least another week before we can hit any of the inland lakes.
