This may sound like a silly question but this is my first year muzzleloader hunting so here goes: At the end of the day's hunt upon returning to camp, cottage whatever, what do you do with the weapon? Take out the breech plug and push the pellets and bullet thru, or fire it at a stump or something else I just haven't thought of yet? (By the way, my weapon is a TC black diamond, so I can take the breech plug out) Thanx in advance.

Different people do different things. I don't like shooting my gun off around where I'm hunting unless it's at a deer. I don't shoot any caps off before I load mine either. I make sure there is dry power behind the cap. I put mine in the back of my car or truck after I take the cap off. If im up at the cabin I put it in the garage. If you take the mussleloader into a warm place after it has been cold if might have a missfire. Blackpower draws moisture like a sponge. I think the blackpower substitute do also but not as bad as blackpower. I use to hunt with my blackpower in the shotgun area and never unloaded mine untill after all deer hunting was over. I would go somewhere and shoot it. I never had a missfire. Oh! don't get me wrong, I have had missfires, not many. most were when I first started blackpower hunting. Good luck and I hope that helps.

Hey nice gun, I just bought the same one last yr and I love it. I killed a huge doe last yr at 136 yds. I usually dont unload mine either. I try to leave it outside, in the back of the truck or such, because of the change of temp. The temp change from outside to inside, will cause moisture, and hence, misfires. Since I started using the pyro pellets, though I havent had any problems whatso ever. Good luck and good huntin. Take your kids hunting :)
That is correct about the temp. changes causing moisture. I brought mine inside last year at night, and it caused a misfire. Also, if you are hunting in the rain or snow, it might be a good idea to take out the breech plug at night and unload the gun, let it completely dry, then reload it. Most new systems are water tight, but its better to be safe than sorry.

Like others have stated, depends on you.
If I am going back out the next day, I will only remove the cap and leave the load in the gun (and leave the gun in the car in a gun case). If I am going to be out of the woods for a few days, I fire the weapon.
Also, for rain/snow, I cover the end of the barrel with a rubber/surgical glove. ( I used to use condoms but my wife thought this looked bad  )

I cut the fingers off a glove so you can use them at differnt times and you dont have the big glove waving around like a flag

Do you shoot through the glove(condom)? This doesn't affect velocity/trajectory/accuracy?
Good idea for in the rain! I never thought of that one.

The air pushed ahead of the bullet will blow it off before the bullet gets to the muzzle. I use electrical tape for the same purpose.
