Last year was my first on this site, glad I found it.In reading all the posts late last year I always came across where you guys would say something about listening to a certain channel or frequency when you were out on the ice to see how the fish were biting or how people were doing.I myself have been hardwater fishing St.Clair for twenty two years, started when I was 14.I would have no problem passing on some info on the fishing to others, baits, the bite,colors,etc.... if I had a radio. Can someone tell me where to get this "radio","walkie talkie" from ?How much does a good one run? What channel are the ice anglers on?Range of these?Anyway I fish a ton at fairhaven, genos, selfridge, cotton road, meldrum road, wherever they are.Any help on the radios would be appreciated.

They sell these radios just about anywhere sporting goods are sold. FRS radios are the ones most commonly used. GMRS/ FRS and their specific GMRS channels require a license from the FCC to use. Regardless of the radio type FRS or GMRS/FRS they can only use a transmit power output of 400 milliwatts on the FRS channels. SO the radios that say 2 watt output only put out that much power on the GMRS channels not the FRS channels like channel 7 that the MS.com gang uses.....So with all that..buyer beware

Get the 5 mile range, 2 mile range just isn't enough. I started with the 2 mile range and ended up buying the 5 mile range motorola (yellow ones)
