A friend of mine wants me to take him fishing tomorrow night and he is interested in keeping some panfish or walleyes. We can use a canoe or small boat and I am looking for any information on any small lakes in macomb or oakland county where he will have a good chance of catching himself a meal. He is in Lake Orion and I am in Washington so anywhere near these cities would be ideal. Also any hints as to what bait/lures would work best at this time of year.

Thanks,

John

Hey John. The lake that comes to mind is
Kent Lake. ( I think ) Kensington Metro Park
I heard that over the years it's been stocked w/walleyes. It's been years since I've fished it. The lake is full of crappies, bluegills and sunfish. Recently,I heard of a state record crappie being pulled out of there. We used to fish the lower end between the freeway and the west-end boat launch for crappie. That is the deepest part.(30ft) There's a old river bed comming down from the north that might hold walleyes.
Maybe some other members have additional input. Since I started fishing big water, I lost touch with inland lakes.

Head up to the Genesse Rec Area and Mott Lake.

You can launch your small boat there. No gas motors allowed so you won't be overrun.

Head to where the Flint river flows in and you'll find tons of huge Walleyes.
