Hey all...
I've seen "live noose rig" mentioned in a couple of different threads lately... A couple of years ago, I purchased some of these in Canada and they worked great! Bait stayed alive MUCH longer, and at the end of (an unsuccessful) day you could just slide the minnow off the rig and back into the bucket. Anyway, I have since lost these rigs and I'm wondering if anyone knows where I could get some (short of driving back to Sudbury!). Neither my wife nor my liver would stand for it! ;-)

I've heard a rumor that a bait shop down here by me carries them. I'm going to take a ride by there in the next couple of weeks. If they have them I'll let you know.

I am going to post one, but my main computer with had a bad cpu. Well I got the new cpu and installed it and it immediately went to 62C which is bad. So the real problem is the motherboard is bad too--which I have a spare. So this weekend I promise I will hook it up and post that pic.
The ones I make are better than the ones from a bait shop because they don't use stinger hooks for the belly.
BTW when you get a hit it guillitines the bait so it does have it's draw backs.

I'm guessing that would only work for walleye and pike? Do you make smaller ones for panfish?

You could probably make it with with small mono for panfish but I haven't tried it. Clear strink tube is available. I will look into it tonight.
BTW we have used this rig for rainbows too and it works great. It is really made for larger toothy critter. And especially helpful for minnows that cost anywhere between $12-20/dozen. I buy some minnows that run $3 each (biggins).
I'm going to try and make something like this for panfish.. I have sime 10# trebles here. Do you think that would do? And, would you only use one treble instead of two?

Thanks, Bandito. I get the concept now. The ones we used in Canada a couple of years ago actually slipped through the mouth and out a gill. I can't remember if there was some sort of beed or something like that above the hook to keep it from sticking the minnow.. Anyway, at the end of the day you literally just turned the rig upside down and let the minnow slide back into the bucket.

a single hook would be fine. They work just about as well. But I gotta tell ya... the 6lb bass I caught the other day was lipped on the lower stinger hook. which was lucky because it didn't do any damage at all. So she swam away unscathed.
Now that I think of it I don't think this would work with mono.. I don't think putting a lighter so close to the line would work very well.
