i know this subject has been covered before ,but i wanted to see if anybody has checked out some of the new lures for the past few years. I compiled a short list of hot new and old lures for perch and walleyes and i wanted to share it with a select few thousand readers.see how many you know and how many you have to learn about. from frostee's to genz worms, flirty girtee's to angel eyes from jammin jigs to glow devils, from flyers to buck shots, pimples to do-jiggers, jiggers to jiggin shads, from whoppers to stoppers, cicada's to that one, from dot to spot, from atomic ants to doodle bugs, and last but not least jiggin raps.if that doesn't give you all a hard drive meltdown looking up all the companies and lures i mentioned then lets come up with some of your own faves and raves. lets include your go to lure. mine is a genz worm size 10 in glow and white for perch and a size 5 jigging rapala in perch for walleye.as long as were waiting for ice we may as well have some fun looking up and buying some new junk. stay tuned, i'll be giving up some "secret lures" in the next week or so. Kens spoons here too, but they are getting harder to find. And mention them to anybody not from around here and they look at you like your from Mars.
I think they are more effective than anything else for perch and walleye. With a Vexilar and spoons you can outfish a guy using live bait any day of the week. It's all about timing and presentation...

JamminJigs orange bobber fry, smallest size jigging rap (big 'gills) and the glow Genz worms. Picked up some of the new jigging shad raps, could become the new favorite but they seem fairly large for 1/8oz.

I just realized that just about 90% of my lures are glow in the dark. I guess any thing that glows is my fav.

I found some good ones last season. They're named "Fiskas", they have baked on epoxy finishes. The web site is under "Your bobbers down". They come in various sizes and colors when those jumbos are finicky. I'm waiting for Brian to stock some so I can increase my inventory. You know, you can never have too much fishing tackle.

Kind of fond of Jacks baits on the Saginaw Bay.For pan fish on inland lakes I like to use a #12/14 marmooska(sp) or something close to that tipped with a red spike

I just picked up some of the Northland Airplane jigs - regulary size and the minis. I think the minis might be good for perch on LSC.
My favorite perch lure is just a green tear drop with silver back, tipped with whatever the hottest bait is at the time.
For pike and walleye I like a plain silver pimple about 2.5 in long tipped with a golden shiner.

No real secret to me, I got my first jigs from a bud that fished with team U.S.A. in 1997 been a staple part of my arsenal ever since. My wife used the #31 in perch color, that jig accounted for 90% of her fish last hard water season. Most of the jigs I use are 1.2cm 1.2gr.

I've seen some pretty awesome numbers of fish caught on Moon Jigs, also refered to as the Burly Bug.
Blue Fox Pixie spoons were my #1 jigging lure for Northerns last year, outfishng airplane jigs and finishing just behind a big chub on a tip up.

My favorite has always been swedish pimples I have about 80 of them, different sizes and colors. I find copper the best for eyes, perch, pike , musky. I like the large ones # 6 or #7 on LSC for perch and eyes. keeps the little fish away. I use small ones for steelys and browns. copper alwaays seems to work best.

We use the pimples for lake erie walleye, you mean they work for perch too? What a great lure!!!! What kind of line do you guys use for the perch? I think thats one of our problems. The most we caught last year was 18 on one trip while alot of you were catching 30 or more !

The Bigger sized Genz Worm, dead sticked with a Big Blue shiner next to whatever I'm jigging at the time, has taken a lot of extra Saginaw Bay walleyes for me in the past few years. :D

Radar.
Heres a little Genz Worm rigging secret, that I truly believe makes a difference. I hook the shiner between the dorsal fin and tail, just under the skin. About where his adipose fin would be, if he had one. This forces the shiner to quiver versus swim, when he see's the preditor come into the hole. Drives the walleyes nuts. You'll see the rod tip quivering and all of a sudden stop and then load up. Pull the trigger, he's on. :tdo12:
