To those of you who've used the spoons with the rubber eggs on them for perch fishing, what color eggs do you use???

I've never tried this method before but saw someone slamming perch with them
last year so I thought I should add them to my arsenal. I've read that red is the popular color but I've also noticed that they make the green rubber eggs as well.

Green has been my consistent color when fishing tear drops and other jigs for perch and I just wanted to know what you guys use.

Thanks

last year red, red, red, always worked. i also tried it on the bottom of my jigging rapala on the bottom center hook (took off the treble hook and replaced it with a red single hook) the rapala took alot of bigger fish. needless to say i will be using them alot this year again.
good luck

This summer they even helped when perch fishing sometimes!! I started adding chartreuase eggs to the hooks then the minnow and they out produced the plain hooks by a drastic margin!!

If memory serves me right the "beads" are actually "Jenson Eggs"? I dont know if there different sizes or not though? Maybe some good hearted M-S.com member will share their secrets? :help:

Here's a site for purchasing the eggs. I just recently pruchased a jar of orange ones from Jay's while I was up north hunting. I didn't see any red/pink colors though so I'll just have to look at the bait shops on St. Clair. We'll see how they work:)

Are you guys all talking about the same thing? I thought the "beads" were the hard plastic ones you add to a hook.....real popular around Saginaw Bay, versus the "eggs" which are like salmon eggs. Am I missing something here  ?

Sorry for the confusion. When I started the thread I said beads but really meant eggs. I've been kinda of using the two words interchangeably. I noticed that some spoons come with a hard plastic bead attached but when I talked to people last year they were using the Anise scented rubber eggs that you could change easily which is what I was asking about.

I always take a pliers and bust off the plastic bead !!prefer the eggs ...then you can use the color of your choice, plus then you have the Anise scent!!

I don't break off the beads anymore(have plenty). When there biting good the hard bead can't be beat, you give them a quick shake off then back down all in a couple of seconds.I also use red yarn on some that are barb less.

Red and chartruese, are my favs. I do break off the hard bead aswell, never did well on those hard beads. but to add to the barbless idea, i do shave down the barb so i dont have to take off my gloves, just flip them slobs on the ice and back down i go. Sometimes i find Perch are spooked by a whole anas ball, so try just a part of one just enough to cover the point.

Two years ago the bait shop @ SANG ran outta red beads,, so I bought orange ones, thinkin "whats the difference?" HUGE DIFFERENCE, IMO!!! Last year I threw the whole jar of orange in the garbage and stocked up on the red. I don't really know why, but the fish hated those orange beads and loved the red ones.

What you are looking for in fact are not beads but a plastic eggs made by Lurh-Jensen's size 020 the egg it's self is named Jensenegg they come in many colors you can use any color you like but make sure it's RED  they are Soft-Supple-Sexy...........Like lurepaintr said don't brake the bead off your jiggin spoons unless you buy 2 at a time.

I have also never tried using eggs. Would someone please post a picture of the correct way to rig these? Thanks

Drag run the hook thru the center of the egg , then slide the egg to the barb. There has been times were I have ran the hook 1/4 thru. I think the egg looks like a giant coped it's not likely that eggs that size would be floating around.
