Man, the weather is promising some fantastic fishing opportunities this weekend. I have planned a canoe trip with my 10 yr old son for Saturday. We are heading into the K-zoo river in search of some fall smallies. THe bronze are in transition, and should be fattening up for the comng months.

There are also some Laregemouth in this same system, and they too will be active. A nice calm afternoon on the river, with no phones, mosuqitos, or chores. DOesnt get any better than that.

I used to fish that river all the time for smallies. I used to put my old boat in at the lauch below the Allegan Dam and drift down river for half a day. We would usually make it to the island in the river before we would motor back up. We have caught some nice salmon in the fall while drifting for smallies. There are 3 or 4 good spots where the smallies where stacked up.

Good Luck, and keep your rod up
