Hi guys
I have been doing some research and looking at prices and I am leaning towards buying a 9" Jiffy white Lightning and was wondering if anybody has had any experience with them and has any comments. I like the bigger holes but not sure if there is enough power to cut threw 24" of ice.
Thanks

I have that identical model and it went through over a foot of ice last year with no problems. I don't think 2 feet would slow it down much and I don't think a 3 horse motor is really necessary. I went with a 2 horse to save weight and haven't been disappointed.

Thanks, I live in Canada and there can be a lot of ice by february. I was wondering if t would be good enough. I don't want to spend the extra dough for the stealth.

Stuerge, I have both the 3 and 2 hp stealth's and let me tell you....the 2 hp is all you will need....I actually feel the 2hp starts and runs nicer than the 3hp.....I have the 2hp for here at Lake St.Clair and leave the 3hp up north at Houghton lake

I've run the 2 hp, 9 inch Jiffy's for 10 years here on Bay de Noc. In that time we've had a couple years were you needed to put an extension on the auger to get thru all the ice. The 2 hp models handle thick ice just fine. The only difference in the power heads on the White lightnings and the Stealths is the paint job and the padded handles. The yellow paint doesn't get you thru the ice any faster and it's easy enough to pad the handles yourself.

I believe that the difference between the 2 models are that the stealth has more cutting edges and teflon cutting plate were the white lightning does not.....during extreme cold the ice and slush builds up and freezes on the non teflon plate making it hard to drill sometimes....that was my whole reasoning in buying the stealth!

any thoughts on the eskimo mako 8" curved blades looks like a good lazer or jiffy knockoff and the curved blades gotta be a plus and im not worried about 36" ice. http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/vertical-item.jhtml?id=0029151118997a&navAction=push&navCount=2&indexId=cat20196&podId=0029151&catalogCode=UE&parentId=cat20196&parentType=index&rid=&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fcatalog%2Fitem-link.jhtml_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166&hasJS=true . i like the price alot and looks like a good product and lighter!
