Went tropical for a week, mostly sight-seeing (Mayan Ruins and jungle stuff) but I did manage to take a four-hour casting trip for anything that would bite. Unfortunately the only things biting were little barracudas, mullet snapper and little bonefish.
I didn't do any research before going so the lousy fishing was my fault. I fished near Ambergris Caye when I should have been fishing the Belize River on the mainland.
It's a good thing I took a few Daredevles and body baits of my own. The lady at the hotel we stayed at set up my trip. Turned out she didn't know diddly about fishing and the "guide" I got had a few rods with little Penn spinning reels and an almost empty tackle box. I cast my own stuff except for jigging for bonefish. He gave me a jig to throw out there that I would have thrown away or repainted. Next time I go it will be with an established fishing guide or I'll bring all my own stuff.
Now I'm ready for ice.
