I wanted to try something different this year so I purchased a Turducken from a Louisiana meat shop on line. For those of you who are not familiar... It's a semi-bonless turkey (bones are in the legs and wings only), a boneless duck and a boneless chicken. The chicken is stuffed with a creole sausage stuffing and then stuffed into the duck. The duck is surrounded with a cornbread stuffing and then place into the turkey. The turkey is sewn up and seasoned with paprika and ready for the oven. I have never tried one but from what I hear, it's to die for... Has anyone had one before and what did you think??? I'll let you all know how it turned out after thanksgiving... HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Excellent! Might have to make it a tradition in our household. Bird, or should I said birds came out fantastic! Turkey was very juicy and tender, the duck I didn't care for much (tasted like giblets) but others liked it just fine. The chicken was equally as good. The stuffing gave all a little spice but not to overwhelming. All in all I'd give it 2 thumbs up. :chicken: :coolgleam

Glad you enjoyed it. That has been a staple in this area for a number of years. They are particularly good when they have a roll of crawfish etouffee in the middle.
If you ever want to be adverturesome and the order house offers them try a
ponce (pounce). This is a highly season loaf of pork and livers in a rice dressing stuffed in a pork's stomach. It is sliced like michigan meatloaf and often served with shrimp stuffed merletons(vegetable pears) a green salad garlic french bread and red wine.

Glad to hear you liked it. We talked about it last year and the year before during Thanksgiving at my moms house. The last two years, she's done a "boneless Turkey" and they are great too. Much easier to deal with. This year my mom said "next year, we're doing a Turducken". I can't wait ! :):corkysm55

The above is where I ordered mine if anyone is interested. These things don't have to be only a Thanksgiving staple. My parents were so impressed with the flavor, they're ordering one for thier Christmas Party.
Redfishman,,, I had a hard time knawing on the duck and you want me to eat pork liver crammed into a pig stomach??? :tdo12: I'd give it a try but no guarantees... ;) I think I'll stick to Pasties and good'ol Michigan Fudge. :)
