I was convinced I wasn't going to see anything tonight. Tonight was my first time out by myself and I was making a lot of noise setting myself up. But it was 2:30 so I didn't worry too bad. I was getting cold so I lit the heater, but it only lasted 5 mins. I was thinking "Great...what a night". Didn't see anything until 4:50 when a doe and a little one walked in. I was in the process of taking the strap off my gun becuase the swivel had slid forward and was worried it would make noise if I decided to shoot anything. OF COURSE at that moment, I see a deer. I didn't see the little one at first, and they were side by side in a way I thought to myself "I could probably get them both with one shot" but they kept looking up and I was afraid they'd see me. They mingled around for a few mins, the doe walked off and then came back. I had waited till she was behind a tree, got my gun up, waited for her to come back into view, and BOOM! She arched up and I knew she was hit right where I wanted to hit her. It was 4:56. I waited a few mins, then went down to where I shot her. Didn't see blood or hair at first, but then found some which turned into gobs and gobs of blood. Saw a little stomach contents and started freaking. But I knew she was hit good from all the blood. She even ran into a few trees and covered them in blood. I was nervous since I was by myself and was leaving toilet paper like every 5 feet so I didn't get lost and I was convinced I wouldn't be able to find her. I went about 40 yards and looked ahead and there she was. Then I was thinking "She's going to jump up and kick me in the forehead" but I nudged her ian the butt and she didn't move. So I knew she was dead. She went about 55 yards and just keeled over. I have NEVER seen blood like that in my life. Turns out I got her in both lungs, the heart and knicked her stomach a tad. She still had milk which we thought was strange. I tried to drag her, but could only get her 15 feet. So I packed everything up and went back to wait for the boyfriend to pick me up. When he got there we went in and he gutted her and dragged her out (even with the deer drag I could only go about 50 feet). She weighed in at 117 lbs dressed out which was bigger than we thought. I finally feel like a real hunter! I was sure I'd screw something up, make too much noise, let them see me or something. But I didn't. woo hoo! I just wish I had been able to drag her out by myself.

I know she's not the biggest, but it's my biggest doe yet, and the first one I've gotten while hunting alone :D
