Shot a doe tonight at around 5:30. Had a doe and a fawn on the bait pile at 5. Then I had 4 does and one fawn come out of the neighbors pines at 500yds. Two does crossed onto my property and came towards me and stopped at 400 yds. At that distance, I thought either I shoot now before low light or wait another day. The wind was calm, the rest into the corner of the window was perfect, the crosshairs were not moving, I was comfortable w/ the shot. Put the croshairs just above her back and just behind the shoulder and pulled the trigger on the 7mm mag. She ran about 20 yds, stopped, and fell over. Shot was just behind the shoulder, center of chest. Exited same spot. I'll get a pick tomorrow.

Nice shoot'n Tex! ;)
I connected on a nice doe last night. Big old fat one! I couldn't believe how heavy she was when I dragged her out. I'm guessing she weighs 160 or so. My buddy thinks she weighs around 180 but I think that's a little too high. Anyways she a nice one.
I had a rough shot too...about 16 yards right in front of me. I took the head shot and laid her out on the spot. :woohoo1:
Okay now I've got some meat for the freezer, hopefully I can find a decent buck before season ends.

Good for you! I got a doe tonight too, but I didn't see near as many deer as you did (I only saw two and took the mama). Can't wait to see a pic!

Congrats on the doe and good shooting. You have obviously spent time putting rounds down range prior to season.

I shoot all summer behind the house. Have plenty of room to shoot and a safe background for the bullets. 400 yds is max. for me.
