Early birds find opening day success
TRAVERSE CITY - The firearm deer season was barely an hour old when 16-year-old Matt Anderson joined the loose but loyal fraternity known as the successful deer hunter.
The high school junior from Elk Rapids felled a sturdy 11-point buck Monday morning on his family's property between Elk and Torch lakes in Antrim County - an impressive kill for a hunter in just his second season.
