Fewer families have hunting in the blood

When Michigan's firearm deer season opens at dawn Monday, Dutcher will be hunting with Brian. But he misses hunting with his father, too, and suspects the family hunting tradition will be lost when it comes to his grandchildren.
"I don't think any of them will end up hunters," said Dutcher, now 75, the owner of Dutcher Realty.

I'm blessed that my daughter has taken and interest in hunting at such an early age. I can only hope that she will continue to show interest and someday take the turn at holding the gun on our hunts and she will point out the markings and signs on our scouting trips. My wife hunts and she is the first generation hunter in her family. At least I know that if anything ever happens where we are no longer together that our daughter will be raised by hunters.
