I have 3 filets of salmon from a recent fishing trip that I'd like to try smoking myself.
This will be my first time trying this...

Anyone have any good marinades?
Can this be done on a propane grill?? I have a Weber...

Any / all guidance would be great!!

Thanks a ton!

This si what I use, and they come out great,

1 cup salt (if you likie it salty you might want to tadd more)
1.5 cups brown sugar (dark)
1.5 gallons spring water

Mix it all together let fish set for 12 to 24 hrs. When you take fish from brine patt it dry with a paper towel. Then rub brown sugar and honey mixture on them . Then smoke till done

I ran across the above post and tried the recipe about one month ago, with a few adjustments, on some filets I caught on a charter in July. Best smoked fish I have ever tasted in my life!!!:)

I gave some out to father-in-law and brother and they couldn't believe how good it tasted. I have been smoking fish for everyone I know since that time. Can't keep up with the orders!!!

I just wanted to thank you for posting that recipe. No one who tries it can believe it is such a simple recipe. Only changes made were to make a honey/ brown sugar glaze and brushed it on the filets after removing from the brine. Use hickory chips as well, on a charcoal Masterbuilt Smoker. Thanks again. :D

I know how you feel about keeping up with the orders I am in the process of building a larger smoker. With the fishing season upon us I will be smoking fish for everyone and their brother. I am glad it worked out for you and because it is so simple makes it even better.

Are the Ingredients above all to make the Brine?....If so....How much Brown Sugar/Honey do you mix for the rub?

Here is the recipe for the best smoked salmon I have ever had.

1 Gallon Apple Juice
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Salt

Soak fish overnight.

I have never really liked salmon that was very salty. This is a great recipe for someone who enjoys a sweeter tasting Salmon.

AWESOME! :)

it all depends on how much fish you have to smoke, I ussually smoke 2 fish at a time and I mix 1 cup sugar ans 1/2 cup honey. The last batch i made I also added 2 tbsps of lemon juice to.
