How important is a roof on a duck blind?

Real important if you don't have a GORE TEX Jacket. ;) ;) ;)

Certainly helps with bad weather, but I assume you were referring to the reactions of the ducks. My opinion.....not too important with divers, which typically come in low, and really don't give a s*** as long as you stay still. But it's very important for puddlers.....seasoned mallards and blacks shy from anything, and you need as much cover and camo as you can get. Just my thoughts.

Its very important if your hunting puddlers. Cause ducks see more than we think.

Lawnboy, have you done any more testing on your second layout boat?

Yes, I have taken it out and talking about laying low to the water. One problem that I found was that the water will run right up the front and into the boat if your not careful. It needs to be used on a real calm day. I’m thinking I’m going to cut that part off and reshape it. I went out the other day with the first one that I made and it worked great. We had a ton of shots at the bluebills. That one I’m able to tow behind the boat with no problem.

Have you tried adding a spray skirt to shed those waves away from the cockpit?

How about stability? Does it seem to be pretty stable for shooting in some waves?

I'd like to build one and keep it around 4' wide, but may go up to 10' long to give a little more deck up front.
