I was just wondering if this thought has crossed anyone elses mind about a monday opener.

Being big bowhunters we set our spots for rifle during early to mid oct. But most the property around us and mainly the hunting club just started to set up this past weekend. Now we feel that if they just started to set up then next weekend will be a mad house for setting up blinds and stands. Now the question is how that will effect the deer movement.

Just to be sure we arent even hunting or touching our land until monday morning in hopes that the deer get pushed onto our land and bed down and take cover there.

No! Hunt, Hunt, Hunt! I expect Saturday and Sunday to be similar to the opening. The deer are going to be moving around BIG TIME. Be smart about it. Hunt the wind, no excessive movement, no excessive noise, ect. But by all means be in the woods!

Some in our camp will bowhunt but I think we will say no more after the sat evening hunt. The reason is we lost a buck to bowhunting the day before the opener a few years back and after we had 8 guys comb the woods for a few hours we think it probably left a good amount of scent in the area. Some will hunt before but most will sit at camp and watch football, play cards, clean and check equipment, sharpen knives and maybe even have a drink or two

My group (oldest brother in law) want to put a ban on the evening before. Last year I borrowed my brother in laws (youngest) ATV and went to a new spot we scouted in Oct.

The ATV would not start and I was able to the oldes Brother in law on FRS as he was waiting for his son to come out. He wouldn't come back to help me cuz I was in location he wasn't familiar with. So I had to wait for him to go back to the lodge.

I did get it started and pulled off the logging trail just as my bro-in-law and nephew pulled in.

The oldest was pissed cuz he went to the store an bought plug, since he had the same problem the night before. No problem with the plug, but I paid for it. I just forgot you need to choke the damn things when it gets cold.
