Just was wondering with the opener being on a Monday this year, when are ya'll heading up. I am guessing that most of the bow/gun hunters will head up Friday and hunt bow over the weekend. That is what we are doing. I am trying to get a feel for when the traffic north will be the worst. Will it be Friday evening or Sunday???

Sunday for me. Freshly showered. No physical labor or sweating. Should be at the Buckhorn by 1 or 2 o'clock to watch the Nascar race. I should be at camp about 45 minutes after the race. :D Watch some hunting videos and off to bed. I'll be in my blind about an hour before daylight.

We are heading up frday after work and bow hunt saturday and sunday. Then gun hunt monday-wednesday. We are hoping with opening day falling on monday the trafiic will be spread over 3 days so it won't be a crazy drive up.

Leaving work at lunch time Friday. Truck will be packed with just my guns. Everything is already up at the cabin now. All the hunting clothes food, beer, and goodies. Saturday morning will be to finish up on anything that needs to be done to the blind. Saturday evening will be for the bow hunting, Saturday night is when we all meet at the local tavern, and see everyone we haven't seen for a year, and have a few cold ones, or two or three. Sunday some go out bowhunting. I relax and will watch the ball game. I CAN'T WAIT....IS IT FRIDAY THE NOVEMBER 12 YET!!!!!!!!

We are heading up 8am on Sat. We are bringing bow gear, but don't know if we will make it out to do any. Potentially Sat. night or Sun morning. Really want to stay out of the woods and relax for an all day sit on the opener.

Leave the office at noon on Friday. Go run the dog one last time in the afternoon. Prep the rest of my gear and squeeze of two or three "confidence" shots off at William's Gun Shop Saturday afternoon. Take the wife out for dinner that night(gotta make sure the wife is taken care of before you leave for camp!:D ) and possibly a movie. Up early Sunday morning; meet Bucknasty & other hunting partners in Clare for lunch; possibly a trip to Jay's for last minute "must-haves." Then off to "Camp Brotherhood" and watch the clock until 5am!

From your location Best bet would be to ditch work and leave Friday morning or wait until 10 P.M. and drive straight through. I have a 521 mile trip. If I leave by 10:00 I can make camp before daylight and get a morning hunt(snooze) in.

If you leave even at noon on Friday. You will be joined by the others thinking that way. If you go after work(good luck), bet I get there first leaving at 10:00 instead of 4:00.

Saturday morning, I drive to the train station near Bonn, Germany, take the fast train to Frankfurt, fly Frankfurt, Germany to Detroit. Rent a car and drive 5 hours north. Should be at our cabin eating potato chips by 9pm MI time, about 21 hours after leaving my house originally. Then do all in reverse starting Wednesday so I can be at my desk at work in Germany Thursday morning Germany time. I cannot wait.

perfect time to leave. If I end up going, I'll do the same, but it will have to be Sat. night. Too many chores at the house. I hate setting up my stand the day before and I don't want to use my climber because i have nicely concealed stand location and I haven't identified a good climber tree in the area. Guess that is something I need to do.

Good luck all
