Mountain bikers need to use common sense during hunting season
Late fall can be a great time to go mountain biking in Michigan.

The cool weather keeps you from overheating even while climbing the steepest hills. The ground on trails is hard and you'll encounter fewer other bikers.

It's a good time to be out on the trails as long as you remember one thing, say officials of the Michigan Mountain Biking Association.

You're sharing the woods with hunters.

I always wear colors that are uncommon in nature, hunter orange, blue, purple, and I have an orange flag on my camelback. Also, I know a few riders that wear a bell or use one of those handlebar mounted bells and ring it, not constantly, but at intervals throughout the ride to also introduce a noise along with the uncommon colors.

I've ridden a few park systems that allow hunting for the past 8-10 years or so and I've never felt uncomfortable or worried about it as long as I'm using common sense when riding.
