Went to LSC Sunday off of 10 mile caught 50 kept 20 x keepers up to 11" sunny side with perch spreaders laying on the bottom in 14ft. The DNR launch next to Beacon's Cove is shut down for repair went to Metro what a long ride to get to the lake.

Next time try the 9 mile launch, its $10.00 but it puts you right where you want to be for the perch. I have a 15' LOWE, 10 minutes and I am fishing. Used the launch for the first time last Saturday due to the DNR Launch at Crocker Closed.
There was no way that I was going to cruise from meto to Art Vans. and especially in the 30+ mile winds.
I'll be using 9 mile untill the Crocker DNR launch opens up.

Thanks TC! Great tip I did not even know it existed. $ 10.00? I spent that much on gas going up the lazy Metro Beach River and running around the point at 3.5 feet deep. Maybe in July but now at 7:00am in mid October. No way. Thank you again.

Hey Guys, Just a warning about 9 mile. 9 mile launch is suppose to be for St. Claire Shores and Eastpointe. I live in Eastpointe and about every 4th time I go there I'm asked for ID. I have sent freinds of mine there before and they were never asked for ID. I must look guilty. I'm not sure what difference it makes where you live if your paying $10.00 to launch.

OK thanks for the heads up but it is worth calling my uncle who lives there to see if he wants to go perch fishing.

Hi guys,
What is the 9 mile launch like? I have never lauched in lsc. How many ramps or docks do they have? I have a 18' crestliner and was thinking of trying some perching in lsc for a change. We have always been fishing Erie. Is there anything I need to be aware of when lauching there?
Thanks, Leakypipe (Vince):fish: :fish2:
Do you all mean the 11 mile launch behind SCS City Hall? It is $10 and is a small launch with about 10 parking spaces. To tie down you just about need to pull into the library parking lot. Overall it is not bad but it is $10. It should be free to residents since we pay 1000's in taxes.
I launch a 20' boat there because Crocker is down.
Jim
They mean the launch by Millers, just N of 9 mile.

Im talking about the 9 mile launch that TinCan posted. Im not sure of the area.
Well there is one at 11 mile also. It is behind the SCS City Hall and they charge $10 to residents. They have never check my ID.
Good Luck,
Jim

There is a ramp at 11 mile one at blssom heath just north of 10 mile and one at 9 mile. 9 mile has a huge lot and is a long walk . blossom heath is the best ramps imo. I heard rumors that the SCS parks took grant money to fix up parks, dredge and other things that have to do with the parks. I think once they take grant money (everyons money) they have to open up the parks to non residence. They still can charge less to residence and more to none. Grs. pointe parks are still residecne only. They They didn't need grant money... If someone could confirm this , It would be a big help.

Ed,
Thanks for the reply; I think I will take a run down to the launches one day this week during lunchtime. I live downriver but work on the eastside. I just started back into fishing this year after spending most of my time with my sons in sports. Now it is dad's time to play. This summer we did most our fishing in lake Erie for the mighty walleye. Had a pretty good year with them, mostly bottom bouncing with harness. I did get the chance to go to LSC a couple of times with a co-work. The spring perch really got me going there. But the other times out with him the fishing been poor (perch and walleyes). He keeps his boat on the Island and we never made it out to the mile road areas. I have started fishing for perch in Erie and done real well the past couple of times out but the problem is you need to go 10-13 miles out to get the fish. The winds plays a bigger role, I can take the pounding but the wife hates it......lol. So i think take her out to LSC for some perch.
I want to thank all of :grouphug: for all the help you guys put into this forums. I have got some great information from the forums.
Thanks again, Vince (leakypipe) :fish: :fish2:

Also launched out of 9-mile on sun. the launch is fine ( a long walk from the dock to the truck). He asked us where we were from and i had heard that you were supposed to be a resident. We gave him the old common guy, look at the parking lot there might of been 10 trailers. he said ok but you are suppose to be a resident.
On a side note might try in close next time, one of the guys on the end of the peir had a bucket full of good ones. Just a thought
