I thought the winds were supposed to be down but sun. morning they sure were a whippin!! Fished out from art vans again....had to work for the perch...ended up with 29....all 8-9 in. no biguns......winds were strong....one big sea Ray had trouble setting anchor blew into us!! We stopped him from banging my boat up....watched him try again and go into someone elses boat....then he decided it best to go fish off on his own!!.......Since I got the bigger dansforth anchor I have not had another problem setting it!!!Going out tomorrow afternoon...think I will try north again around masonic area....do a little exploring for them!!! Last time I tried that area did well on jumbos!!

Was also out, did not do much in front of vans house a couple of dinks. then moved out to masonic there were some nice fish in the area but you had to sort out the dinks took home 20 all over 9 inches. Most of the bigger fish came on the slip rig. also had problems with sheeps in the same area. Fished in 14 fow. big shiners caught the bigger fish.

Two of my pals fished perch today, two boats came back with about 100, cleaned them, then ate them. Then watched the Lions defeat Atlanta. :dizzy: Think positive, Lions, 13 & 3 by Christmas. Now I know I am wacko :bash: Off of the Basset, guess they have not schooled up yet. :grouphug: Cold nights, fairly warm day's mean good "perchin" is coming!

Reports say it was very bumpy on the Canadian side this morning, laid down after noon.

Been laid up since the 9th, bad back, glad I missed this ride :fish2:

Hope to take a ride on Wednesday, weather permitting. I now sympathize with any one with back problems :tdo12:

For you Macomb County "peoples", if you ever need a good Chiroprator, contact Steve Wood, 586-949-1376, 21 & Gratiot area. This time last week my bride had to help me out of bed. :chillin: At least, now I can walk and not crawl.

It will get better!

In my past life, wrong once and I would be worm bedding. It will get better :yikes:

Fill some 5 gallon "buckets" :fish2:

:yeahthat:

The Gone Fshing family group ended up with about 8 gallons of good eaters with a few nice jumbos in the mix! I was going to post a pic but with this new computer I bought, I'm lost again! Every trip is getting better and better so we're hoping for limit catches in the next week or so! :)

Was Everyone using slips? Nobody on my boat used slips and we fished from art vans to the 400 club 7a.m. to 230p.m. . We all used perch rigs with shiners and only 3 fish caught all day 2-dinks 1-8incher. We marked the hell out em but we must be doing something wrong.

Almost forgot to tell everyone. While launching out of 9 mile this morning I couldnt belive my eyes when I was backing the boat in and looked up in front of me there was a RED FOX walking 10 ft from my truck and stopped to watch us launch. It was kinda neat. He wasnt scared of us at all and the guy at the booth said there is 2 of them and they are there every morning. I kick myself in the but for not bringing the camera:bash:  :bash:

Me, Melon and Buddhabelly made it out today. I think shadow7663's boat and my boat had the same luck, or lack of it. :( Tried in front of Art Van. 2 fish. Did better a week ago. My 14' was getting tossed around nice in the waves. Oh, well. Looks like I may have to wait till Ice b4 I can get into some perch again. If it wasnt for the wind, it would have been much easier to move around and try some more spots in that area.

Shadow, I tried some different ideas (for me) that worked pretty well for a change. I'm usually the guy who gets skunked when everybody else comes home with fish. Thursday I caught about 100 perch, kept 40. Here's what I did. Worked this week but maybe it will never work again.

I put down a short (3 foot) rod with a perch rig loaded with those yellow plastic anise eggs we use for ice fishing. Dropped it down and left it. Never caught a fish on it. Used it as an attractor. Used a 5 1/2 foot graphite rod with #8 hook perch rig. Lowered it to the bottom with slack line for anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Slowly lifted the rod and if I even thought I felt any weight I set the hook. Some of my biggest fish never "hit" the bait.

Shadow, feel your pain, did the "honey doo" stuff this morning, cut the grass, washed a few windows, then I got busy, went to HPYC checked out the day's catch, helped them "eat-em" did not help them clean them, then watched the Lions.

Before I left the house, my wife said "you killed a squirrel" cutting the grass. My reply, that little "sucker" was not there when I cut the grass. What's funny, a nice sized "Fox Squirrel" was sleeping under the "birch" tree, sunning his dumb "a--", when I opened the patio door, the little suckker "booked" right up the tree. Never seen a squirrel sleep before.

Obviously I have consumed a "bit" of the grape tonight, so I think I'am out of business for the eve.

Gsepan, Jeffk and myself were in the pack of boats between the 400 and the 9 mile tower. Things started off good, then petered off, made 1 move, caught a few more. We probably caught about 100, only kept 47. Jeffk and I were tryings slips, only about 4 fish, most came on a spreader laying on the bottom. I got the pleasure of cleaning the fish and ended up with 4 1/2 pounds of fillets. We launched out of Harley and the mornings ride wasnt fun, my kidneys still hurt!!!! We were the first to the "area", blue and white Sylvan 17', but the place filled up fast!!!!! Looked for anybody I knew but didnt recognize any boats, although we did pass by Metro just in time to see the Gone Fishing crew heading towards another country:D

I thought a while back I put this in one of my posts....but this has made a nice difference for us...on both perch rigs and slips we are using a anise ball (chartreuse) and a minnow....for us at least what a difference then without!!!......over at art vans area we were mainly using perch rigs ......And JUST like miketheElder says...bounce on bottom a little...slowly lift...any resistance set the hook...some of the bites you would not even feel.....the old timmer that I was fishing with could not get the hang of that method....think he ended up with 3 fish  Saw you guys out there kbKrause but my frs radio died....did not have strong enough batteries from this past winter.....Had to be a rough ride for you fellows

Lots-o-dinks but was fun anyway... Sure does beat fishing the northern portion of the lake which, by the way has totally sucked this year!!! Some of the fish we kept were questionable even for ice fishing but I'm sure Mike was able to get some meat off of them. Will try to do it a few more times b4 hardwater hits. Thanks Ed for keying us in on an area to fish.

We got beat up on the lake Sunday! Darn weatherman/women. This boat fishing is overrated. Can't wait for ice.
