Have you ever had any luck hunting over a salt lick? Just wondered I have never really heard anybody say they were successful hunting over them I thought they get used a lot in the springtime by doe's after they drop fawns. As for legality, I do not know.

Salt blocks are legal. I also agree with Adam that salt blocks work better in the spring and do not do much in the fall.

I always thought they were illegal. I have one out but it's 100 yds from any stand. They are using it heavily though. Salt is fine now but switch to a mineral block or mix at the end of Jan. or Feb. Should have 5% or less salt but w/ all the other goodies.

Salt is legal but still must meet the date requirements for baiting or date/location requirements for recreational viewing.

There are some people in my neck of the woods that purchase LARGE bags of salt that they sell,... they dig up areas of dirt and mix the salt right in there with it. The deer will paw at those areas and lick the ground.

Kinda like they used to do with that deer-cocaine stuff they had out a few years back (haven't seen any of that stuff around here in a while) but the salt in dirt gimmic seems to work.

suppopse salt is placed prior to dates and not consumed until after the dates is it illegal to leave this in the woods? As long as it is not possible for deer to get to it. If they have the possiblility of getting to it before the dates then it's a violation.

Does it matter if you are hunting on public land in regards to the use of salt/mineral block in TB Area?

The baiting rules are on page 19 of the 2004 Hunting and Trapping Guide.

Does it matter if you are hunting on public land in regards to the use of salt/mineral block in TB Area? You must follow the baiting/feeding rules for whatever land you are hunting. If bait or feed is illegal on that land then of course, you can't use salt for bait/feed.
