Wednesday 10-06-04 I picked up 2 dz minnows form the BP gas dock. nice emeralds. I started fishing 0750 south of Fords cove in 14 fow. I nailed 2 nice perch right off and nothing for the next 20 min's I made a move into 11 fow and drove until I found some weeds on the graph and a slight drop to 13.2 fow. It started out slow only on fish every 5 min's or so but Keeper fish. I decided to stay. Next 20 min's later I can't keep 2 perch rigs in the water. :D life is good. I found if I layed the perch rigs on the bottom by the time I got the second rod baited I would have a double or nice fish on the other. I did this until I ran out of minnows and they were still biting hard.around 0920 . I think the trick was to keep fish or minnows in the water at all times . I kept the school going and were still biting when I pulled anchor. I did tip of key west a boat that was looking for them all morning. He jumped in my spot. photos to follow.

great job ed..and less than 2 hours..terrific..once again i made wrong choice...lots of options i decide to chase salmon from rivers and pierheads....we discolored some spawn and drown numerous rapalas to no avail nuttin..skunkeroo...thank god it wasn't in the boat!...lol
You just had to bring up skunks. I was sitting out on the porch having my morning jug of Joe before dawn this morning and noticed a very large squirrel out at the end of the lawn. "Odd" I thought to myself, "Don't normally see squirrels out and about before dawn." then I realized, yep, bushy tail, too big to be a squirrel must be a..... I went inside to get more coffee, forgetting to bring the dog with me. :help: :yikes:

Nice job Ed. Colder weather, more perch. Now you guys have me thinking, may be able to arrange a perch fry at HPYC around the 30th of October. We will need some help with the weather.
If we can arrange it, let's make it a M-S. com outing. We will supply the "cookers", all we will need is some fresh peanut oil, french fries, cole slaw and A LOT OF PERCH, people to clean them, people to eat-em. :dizzy:
I think we can arrange everything except people to catch them, clean "em" and people to eat them. If we all work together, we can make it happen. Just a thought, whatever you catch, you clean them and donate them. Bring the wife and kids & the emphasis is on the kids. Couple of dollars per boat for the frys and cole slaw and fix-ins. You guys want to participate? Let me know? I will work out the details. :yikes:

That sounds fun D.G. I could bring 3 or 4 ms'ers along on my boat. The trip to the club would be by car, I'm not sure about the water dept in that area.

Ed,
Nice job. When the Perch are putin on the feed bag and you can't keep your lines in the water is priceless feeling. Its like a kid on christmas morning.
Going to try and make it out on 10-8 in the afternoon, I'll be on 68. A Perch outing sounds like fun, I am in. Got room for one or two on my boat.
Fish on.........

I think I'd be in for a Perch outing and fish fry. Maybe we could kick in a few bucks per boat with a winner take all little derby to make things interesting. :)
